Abu Ghraib soldier sues biographer over book deal - Charleston Gazette

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Former Army reservist Lynndie England, who tells her side of the Abu Ghraib prisoner-abuse scandal in a new book, is suing her biographer over their business dealings.

She claims Gary Winkler seized control of what was intended to be a shared copyright. England says Winkler resigned from the West Virginia company set up to handle finances and formed his own Virginia-based publishing company.

Winkler has denied wrongdoing and says he welcomes a Sept. 23 hearing in Hampshire County Circuit Court.

He says that the book isn't selling well, and that England is mistaken if she thinks he's sitting on a pile of cash he's not sharing.

England's lawsuit also claims Winkler refused to provide access to online accounts that she could use to monitor book sales and revenues.

Spire leaves biomedical business - MSN Money

Posted: 09 Sep 2009 08:34 AM PDT

Jackie Noblett

Spire Corp., the solar manufacturing equipment maker, disclosed Wednesday it has exited the biomedical products business through a sale of its hemodialysis catheter business to Bard Access Systems Inc.

The $15 million deal between Bedford, Mass.-based Spire (Nasdaq: SPIR) and Bard, a Salt Lake City, Utah, medical device maker, transfers the assets of Spire's catheter product and a license for Spire surface coating patent to be used in the product's production.

Spire entered into the biomedical business through its surface coating product development in 2002 and company officials said in a statement the divestiture is important so that the company can focus its attention on the solar business.

"We continue to see tremendous opportunity in the solar market and can better capitalize on these opportunities with a more focused approach," said Roger Little, Spire chairman and CEO. "In addition to strengthening our cash position, this transaction will allow us to properly align our priorities and resources in order to capture the substantial growth opportunities in the solar market."

The deal is expected to close by the end of September.

ADA Cosmetics: Global distribution with abas Business Software - PR Inside

Posted: 09 Sep 2009 09:17 AM PDT

2009-09-09 18:11:20 - Karlsruhe, Germany – ADA Cosmetics, the German based market leader in premium hotel cosmetics reached its limits with their previous business software and needed more than just an upgrade. Due to a broad product range, their new system had to be able to manage batch and process manufacturing as well as custom and small-scale production. Because ADA Cosmetics distributes through various national and international locations, it also had to be equipped with multi-user features. abas Business Software meets all these requirements and assists the hotel cosmetics specialist since 2001. abas ERP has exceeded all of ADA's expectations over the years. With evolutionary and innovative abas Business Software, ADA works with a tool that easily connects new locations, continuously optimizes processes and saves costs.Karlsruhe, Germany, September 9th, 2009 – ADA Cosmetics, the German based market leader in premium hotel cosmetics reached its limits with their previous business software and needed more than just an upgrade. With evolutionary and innovative abas Business Software, ADA works with a tool that easily connects new locations, continuously optimizes processes and saves costs.

Global distribution with a zero error rateHartmut Schindler, Head of IT at ADA Cosmetics, sees additional benefits in using abas ERP at ADA: "Our whole accounting is integrated in abas ERP. Ever since, internal transparency has increased remarkably. Individual transactions can be tracked back from finished goods via production processes back to document level in various languages. Data is only

entered once and is instantly available worldwide. Time consuming double entries are non existing, as well as fault finding. Basically, the error rate is zero."

Schindler sees another highlight in the international presence of abas Business Software: "We are using abas ERP at our locations in Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain, Dubai, Hongkong, Singapore and China. At all locations, we are using our installation with all company specific modifications. It is inevitable that ABAS has a global partner network. The local abas partner is responsible for any country specific software customization. He is aware of any regional distinctions and knows local laws and mentality." From Germany, ADA centrally runs the production for all countries. This incorporates the entire purchasing, warehouse and production. This way, ADA is aware of order statuses or actual stocks at any location at all times. Hartmut Schindler sums up, "Through this organization every individual's productivity has increased tremendously. Despite our company expanded extraordinary, we were able to increase our service quality worldwide without increasing personnel."

ADA: Interaction of ERP and Web-ShopADA Cosmetics International is a global enterprise. Around 50% of all purchase orders are processed online. Their web presence and online shop are available in four different languages. Christian Estenfeld, Head of Pre-Production, shares his positive experiences on using international applicable abas ERP and the advantages of combining it with opportunities of their Web-shop: „All orders are recorded in abas ERP in real-time, regardless of the language they have been placed in. Prices can be structured and calculated for different customer categories. abas ERP provides centrally held information that is directly presented to our potential target market on our various web-presences."

About ADA Cosmetics
In 1979 Andreas Dahlmeyer founded the company, and started out offering soap bars for hotels in customer's corporate design. This business idea was highly appreciated by the market and initiated an unprecedented expansion. Today, ADA is operating internationally with more than 300 employees. The cosmetics company generated a turnover of 45 million Euros in 2008 and belongs to the investor group Halder since 2006. ADA exports their products in more than 150 countries. "It is a special something, that little extra, that contributes to a guest's well-being and makes them come back. Especially in sensual bathrooms, hotels can really score with premium original cosmetic products", explains ADA founder Andreas Dahlmeyer.
