Architecture

GH2 Architects LLC has named Chris Seat as a shareholder of the firm.

Seat has been a principal at GH2 since 2006, and has more than 16 years of architectural experience. He works in all phases of design and construction, including programming, design development, construction documents and construction administration.

Seat has had the lead position in projects including the Muskogee Veterans Center Auditorium, additions to the Claremore Veterans Center, the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds, and the JD McCarty Center in Norman.

Resources Global Professionals has named Michael Turner as director of client service in its Tulsa practice.

Most recently, Turner served as business development manager for MainSpring, LLC in Tulsa.

He also previously worked for Accounting Principals Inc., and started his career in the audit department at Deloitte & Touche in Tulsa.

Employment services

Hogan Assessment Systems has promoted Arron Tracy to chief operating officer.

Tracy most recently had served as chief information officer. Most recently he had worked as chief information officer.

Also, Ryan Ross has been promoted to vice president of consulting. He previously had served as director of alliances and partners.

Ross has been with Hogan since 1997.

Financial

Curzon Cumbey & Kunkel PLLC has promoted Glenn Eddleman to forensics division head following the receipt of the Certified Forensic Interviewer credential.

Eddleman has been with CC&K for three years, most recently serving as the director of the forensics' division. His major areas of practice include income tax consulting, audits, reviews, merger and acquisition services, and fraud prevention and examination services.

Information Technology

Magnir Group has named Stephen Wilemon as a senior consultant.

Wilemon has more than 30 years of experience in the information technology and auditing industries. He has worked for Magellan LP, Burns Data Control/ConocoPhillips and CITGO Petroleum.

Richards & Connor has named Elizabeth A. Hart as a partner with the firm.

Hart focuses her practice on health care law and medical malpractice defense.

Public relations

Schnake Turnbo Frank | PR has promoted Lucinda Rojas as senior account executive.

Rojas' past experience includes community relations, media relations and event planning. She most recently served as account executive.

Langdon Publishing has named Chris Elston as associate publisher/sales and marketing.

Elston was formerly associate publisher of Wichita magazine.

Also, Katy Livingston and Matt Cauthron have been named graphic designers on the publication staff.

Also, Anne Brockman has been named marketing/editorial assistant, while Denise Jones fills a new position as administrative coordinator.

Oklahoma Association of REALTORS has named Doug Emde, owner of ERA Emde & Associates, Stillwater, as its 2010 president.

Paying more for XU business school? - Cincinnati.com

Students seeking to enroll in Xavier University's business school next fall will get a quick lesson on supply and demand.

Xavier is considering charging students of the Williams College of Business a higher tuition than other undergraduates. While it hasn't set tuition yet, the college is considering an extra charge of $400 to $600 per semester, Provost Roger Fortin says.

While Xavier offers different prices for some graduate programs, it's never charged different prices for undergraduates.

The decision comes down to pure earning power, both on campus and in the job market. Business-school graduates tend to earn more once they graduate. And business professors earn about 50 percent more than professors in Xavier's other colleges.

"It costs more to hire business faculty," Fortin says. "We're responding to what the market calls for. I'm not saying that business faculty are overpaid. They deserve that. But it's a reality."

If it's adopted as planned this fall, the policy will affect only new students, not the roughly 1,000 undergraduate business majors at XU now. It would come as the business school moves into its new building at the top of Ledgewood Drive.

Students at Xavier are mixed on the tuition plan. Student body President Kiki Richardson says some students could try to circumvent the higher tuition by not declaring a major right away.

"But there's definitely some students who think the higher tuition might make the business school seem more prestigious," she says.

There's no mystery to Xavier's strategy. With the bad economy lingering and its own costs increasing, XU needs new revenue streams as much as any business.

Xavier also is being careful not to outstrip the capacity of students it wants to attract. Within the next several weeks it will make a final decision about next year's tuition. Expect a tuition increase of up to 5 percent or so from the current $13,950 per semester.

Bottom-line types will see the simple logic in charging more for a service with higher costs and a higher payoff. But as usual in the higher-education world, everything isn't always so simple. Ohio's public universities have long argued for the right to charge "differential tuition" under state law. Some add extra fees for certain programs. At Miami University, for example, business majors pay $75 for the average business class, meaning the fee can total several hundred dollars per semester.

As a private school, Xavier can charge what the market will bear. This fall, that's where supply will meet demand.

Gov. Doyle headlines Marian Business & Industry dinner - Fond du Lac Reporter

Gov. Jim Doyle will be the keynote speaker when Marian University holds its 28th annual Business & Industry awards dinner on Thursday, March 4.

The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Stayer Center for Technology & Executive Learning on the Marian campus.

The title of Doyle's address will be "Strengthening Our Economic Future."

Doyle was elected as Wisconsin's governor in 2002 and re-elected in 2006. His public service in Wisconsin also includes three terms as Dane County district attorney from 1977 to 1982 and, following eight years building his own private law practice, serving as Wisconsin attorney general from 1990 to 2002.

Doyle attended Stanford University and graduated from UW-Madison. He is a 1972 graduate of Harvard Law School.

Inspired by John F. Kennedy's call to public service, after college, Doyle, and his wife, Jessica Laird Doyle, worked for two years as teachers in Tunisia, Africa, in the Peace Corps.

After he graduated from law school, the Doyles moved to the Navajo Indian Reservation in Chinle, Arizona, to work as an attorney and teacher, respectively.

Marian's Business and Industry awards are given to individuals, companies, charitable organizations or civic groups whose good business practices benefit the community, either through the ways they do business or through the recipients' contribution to the community.
